Here are first photos confirming BMW's official statement made at the last Geneva Motor Show. The Bavarian carmaker is about to extend the X5 model range with an additional 4x4 "coupe," based on the same platform.

 

In this case, the word "coupe" does not mean a two-door, but, as in Mercedes CLS500 marketing jargon, refers to a sporting model with coupe-like roofline, even if it has four doors.

 

Rumors are that the new model will be named the X6. The first development mule is now doing laps at Germany's famous NĂźrburgring. These early development mules have a clever modular frame that allows all weight- (and, therefore, handling-) critical items to be positioned differently and in small steps, in order to find their optimum position for superior road-holding, handling, steering, and comfort. Similarly, the mules offer easy access to the suspension geometry, springs, dampers, and steering, which all can be varied and fine-tuned.

 

The test mule sports a non-production body made as simply as possible to cover the mechanical parts. It offers no indication of the final vehicle's styling or design.

 

The newcomer is reported to be a sporty looking crossover four-door, four-seater. It gets front-mounted engines ranging from a V-8 with either 340 hp or 450 hp, to a V-10 with 612 hp.

 

BMW hopes to be alone in this "coupe" market. By offering a high seating position and four-wheel drive, they would be without a direct competitor, at least initially. That's only until Porsche brings on the Panamera, a four-door coupe due in 2009.

 

Just like the current and the next X5, the new X6 will be built in the United States in South Carolina and is scheduled for release in 2008.

subscriu, toti producatorii fac la fel cat isi testeaza modelele noi. in final masina arata complet diferit (refuz sa cred ca bmw ar putea sa faca un hayon asa odios)

In schimb uratzenia aia eee...urata cu spume... :) priviti-o pe aia din "profil" ....parca e z3 supraponderal :)

iar farurile si stopurile se vd clar ca-s aplicate cu pensula de pe un 7-ar!

nu inteleg o chestie la masina aia de teren: de ce s-ar obosi sa puna niste faruri care par veritabile (in final cam aia cred ca va fi forma farurilor) pe o masina cu caroserie falsa?

Cred ca mai degraba testeaza mecanica masinii(suspensii,motor etc) altfel nu are nci o logica dracovenia aia>mda sunt dus chiar acolo scrie ca e facuta pt a testa cum se va comporta masina :)

Numai putin. Din cate vad majoritatea au crezut ca aia gri e o "chestie" de teste pentru potentialul viitor model din poza rosie? :blink:

Este un vehicol intre SUV-urile familiei si Touring-uri. De fapt un crossover, care combina diversele avantaje ale modelelor actuale. Este prevazut sa apara in 2008, cu numele de V5, un vehicol care este un pic SUV, un pic station vagon, un pic coupe.

V5 va reprezenta o gama noua a constructorului german.

Non paga di poter vantare in listino ben due SUV e altrettante station wagon, in grado teoricamente di soddisfare qualsiasi esigenza e gusto in termini di spazio e versatilità, in BMW stanno guardando con grande attenzione ai cosiddetti crossover, veicoli trasversali in grado di combinare le qualità di diverse categorie di veicoli.

Così, nel 2008 la cada di Monaco si appresta a lanciare la V5, veicolo unico nel suo genere, un po’ station wagon, un po’ SUV, un po’ coupè, vista la sua forte connotazione sportiva a dispetto delle quattro porte.

Pur derivato dal pianale della Serie 5, infatti, questo modello non sostituirà nĂŠ la Serie 5 Touring nĂŠ la X5, che anzi nel 2006 vedrà l’introduzione della seconda generazione.

 

La V5 rappresenterà quindi un ulteriore arricchimento della gamma di Monaco, forte di una carrozzeria che si distinguerà per la linea molto grintosa, con un’altezza superiore alla media ma senza raggiungere le “vette” tipiche di un vero e proprio SUV. La coda, da parte sua, adotterà un ampio portellone, caratterizzato dall’andamento decisamente inclinato del lunotto. Una fiancata “scolpita” come nelle ultime creazioni di Bangle e uno sviluppo marcatamente ad arco del padiglione saranno invece gli elementi più evidenti della vista laterale.

 

Lo spazio a disposizione dei passeggeri si preannuncia particolarmente generoso, complice anche il padiglione più alto, così come il vano di carico, assicurando alla V5 un’elevata versatilità.

 

Sul fronte dei propulsori, infine, è atteso l’impiego dei sei cilindri benzina e turbodiesel di ultima generazione messi a punto dalla casa di Monaco, mentre sulle motorizzazioni di punta potrebbero trovare posto anche i V8, sempre benzina e turbodiesel. Prestazioni e consumi, quindi, si attesteranno verosimilmente a metà strada tra le più filanti berlina e SW della serie 5 e il più “massiccio” X5. I prezzi? Ancora da definire, ma certamente saranno adeguati al prestigio della vettura e del marchio

mi-ai dat doar un articol de presa...nu e nimic concludent. Cu speculatii sunt mii de articole. ce iti zic eu sigur este ca in 2008 va aparea X6.

Glumesc.

Posibil sa fie vorba de acceasi masina, clar este ca va fi o noua clasa. O sa avem multe struto-camile-elefanti. Important e sa se vanda si sa isi respecte traditia. Daca mai ai noutati, le astept.
